Liverpool will be hosting Leicester City at Anfield Stadium on Merseyside this Saturday, December 26 in a huge English Premier League clash. The Reds were embarrassed 3-0 at newly-promoted Watford last weekend while Leicester managed to beat Everton 3-2 on the road. Leicester, who have been led by the scoring exploits of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, have surprised everybody by remaining the hottest team in the league since late last season and enter the game in first place. Liverpool may have fired manager Brendan Rodgers and replaced him with Jurgen Klopp, but they’re still struggling.

Leicester has been on top of the league for the past few weeks now and enter the Christmas fixture period with 38 points from 11 victories, five draws and just one defeat. Their lone loss was a 5-2 setback at the hands of second-place Arsenal at home. Leicester has scored a league-high 37 goals and has allowed 24 against. They have six wins, three draws and no losses on the road with 21 goals for and 11 against. Leicester has posted three clean sheets this year and have scored at least one goal in each of their 17 games. They’re unbeaten on the road and have five wins and a draw in their past six away fixtures.

Liverpool has dropped down the standings by gaining just one point out of a possible nine in their past three games against inferior opposition. Meanwhile, Leicester will be making their second straight trip to Liverpool as they edged Everton on Merseyside last weekend. They actually have a better record on the road since they’ve yet to face defeat away from home.
Liverpool has suffered from injury problems this year and Martin Skrtel, James Milner, Jordan Rossiter, Danny Ings, Joe Gomez and Jon Flanagan will miss the game. However, Dejan Lovren and goaltender Simon Mignolet are expected to be in the lineup along with the always-injured Daniel Sturridge. Leicester is hoping Vardy, the league’s top scorer, will be ready, but Danny Drinkwater, Jeff Schlupp and Matthew James are all injured.
