If Arsenal is going to win their first English Premier League title since 2005 they’re going to have to beat Burnley FC at home at the Emirates Stadium in London this Sunday, January 22nd. Arsenal is coming off of a 4-0 away win over last-place Swansea City in Wales last week while Burnley beat Southampton 1-0 at home. Burnley then beat Premier League side Sunderland 2-0 at home on Tuesday in a third round FA Cup replay. The two sides had drawn 0-0 in Sunderland 10 days earlier.

The Gunners are eight points behind first-place Chelsea, just one behind second-place Tottenham and Liverpool two ahead of fifth-place Manchester City.

They have six victories, two draws and two defeats in their past 10 league games with 24 goals for and 11 against. Manager Arsene Wenger has numerous injury problems to deal with as usual as midfielder Santi Cazorla is out until March while defender Per Mertesacker is out until at least February along with forwards Theo Walcott and Yaya Sanogo and defender Mathieu. In addition, Mohamed Elneny is at the African Nations Cup with Egypt.
Burnley FC – A Closer Look:
Newly-promoted Burnley may bit a bit of a surprise this season since they’re in 10th place in the 20-team league. But they’ve only taken 26 out of a possible 63 points.. Burnley has eight wins, two draws and 11 losses in their 21 games with 23 goals for and 31 against. They’re also just 10 points ahead of 18th-place Hull City and the relegation zone. Burnley is the worst away team in the league so far with a winless record at one draw and eight defeats.
The draw was a 0-0 affair against Manchester United and they’ve failed to score in six of those nine matches. Burnley has four wins and six losses in their past 10 league games with 12 goals scored and 16 allowed. On the bright side, they have a relatively healthy squad heading up to London as midfielders Johann Gudmundsson and Scott Arfield are listed as the only questionable players for the match.
