This week’s English Premier League action will feature an important London derby as Tottenham Hotspur will be hosting West Ham United at White Hart Lane on Sunday, November 22. Tottenham enters the 13th round of league action in fifth place in the standings with 21 points. They’ve won five games, drawn six and lost just once, which was on the opening day of the season 1-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford. Spurs have scored 20 goals and allowed 10 against, but have dropped 12 points up to now due to their half dozen draws. West Ham sits tied with Tottenham at 21 points with six victories, three draws and three defeats. They’ve scored 23 times and have conceded 16.

West Ham has been playing well under new manager Slaven Bilic this season, but are up against a Spurs team that is currently on an 11-game unbeaten streak in league play. However, West Ham have already proven to be road warriors so far in the 2015/16 campaign with away victories against Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City. They’ve also beaten defending league champions Chelsea at home. Tottenham is off to their third-best Premier League start and they finished in fourth place in the other two campaigns. For West Ham, the club is off to its best-ever start in the Premier League after 12 games and they’ll be hoping for a top-four finish and a berth in next season’s European Champions League tournament.

The Hammers have four wins in their six away fixtures this season while they had won just four times in their previous 25 road games. Spurs are a tough team to beat at White Hart Lane though with just two defeats in their past 19 league home contests along with 11 wins and six draws. This London derby can often become chippy as it has resulted in three red cards in the last three encounters. There’s a chance for another one this weekend since West Ham leads the league with four reds this season and Tottenham leads the way in yellow cards with 27. In fact, Spurs’ Erik Lamela will miss Sunday’s game due to a suspension for picking up five yellow cards already and James Collins is suspended for three games for West Ham.
Of the last four goals Spurs have scored against West Ham, three of them have come in the 90th minute and they’ve earned Tottenham an extra five points. This means Bilic will have to make sure his players concentrate on the match until the final whistle blows this time around. Spurs haven’t lost at home this season and English international striker Harry Kane has scored five times in his past three appearances to lead the attack. Fellow English striker Andy Carroll has also been playing well and he’s scored in two of his three league matches against Tottenham, who have just a lone clean sheet in their past six contests. West Ham will be without Dimitri Payet for three months with an injury and will be missed since he’s been involved in 35 per cent of his squads goals this season. Forward Enner Valencia is also out due to injury.
