The Tennessee Titans pay a visit to Louisiana this Sunday, November 8 where they’ll clash with the New Orleans Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Saints have been victorious in four of their past five outings and have climbed up to third place in the NFC South at 4-4. Meanwhile, the Titans have struggled as usual and their 1-6 record places them in the basement of the AFC South. Tennessee was beaten 20-6 by the Houston Texans in week-eight play while the Saints edged the New York Giants 52-49 in a high-scoring thriller.

The Titans have been beaten a league-high six consecutive times after winning their season opener and are now running into one of the NFL’s hottest teams in New Orleans. Tennessee has scored just 23 points in their past three contests and has conceded 68. They’ve been without first-year quarterback Marcus Mariota due to a knee problem and he’s been replaced by Zach Mettenberger for the past couple of games. The backup Mettenberger has totaled 358 yards and gone 44 for 66 in passing. However, he’s thrown for just one touchdown and has been picked off three times and sacked eight.

They’ll be facing a shaky New Orleans’ defense which allows a third-worst 406.2 yards against per game this year. With the Saints being vulnerable we could see running backs Antonio Andrews and Dexter McCluster try to take advantage of their weak spot. McCluster has been struggling with 13 carries for 43 yards in his past pair of contests, but still leads the team with 176 yards on the ground this campaign. Andrews has fared better lately as he’s gained 121 yards in the past two games on 26 runs. Receives Delanie Walker and Kendall Wright could be a factor if the Titans decide on an aerial attack as they’ve teamed up for four touchdowns and 621 yards up to now. The Titans are 3-7 against the spread and 1-9 straight up in their past 10 games where they’ve been the underdog.
The Saints got off to a brutal start to the season by going winless in their first three games. They’re on a hot streak now and don’t want to lose momentum against a week Tennessee side. They’ve won three in a row and four out of five as they push for a playoff spot. Thirty-six-year-old quarterback Drew Brees had a career outing against the Giants by going 40 for 50 in passing for a career-best 511 yards. He also tossed seven touchdown passes and became the eighth quarterback in NFL history to achieve that mark. New Orleans also god fine performances out of tight end Benjamin Watson and wide receiver Marques Colston as they teamed up for 17 receptions and 261 yards.

The Saints will be glad to know the Titans have conceded 22.6 pints on average in their last three contests. Brees will be expected to attack from the air since the Saints rank second in the NFL with 323.9 passing yards each game. Colston and Watson should be factors and Brandon Cooks and Willie Snead could also chip in since they’ve combined for two touchdowns and 905 receiving yards this year. The Saints haven’t been too good as home as they’re 3-6-1 against the spread in their last 10 home appearances and 4-6 straight up.
